You’ll probably have noticed through my recent blogs, there is more than just the one reference to Jasmine Di Milo. Di Milo is by and large one of my fav designers at the mo… mind you, I tend to be quite fickle and this can change…. but for right now, you could say I am just a tiny bit obsessed with her work – I am loving her Spring Summer 2010 collection.  So you can imagine my incredible disappointment at the recent announcement that Jasmine’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection, oddly entitled ‘The Puzzle Factory’, will be her last… The official statement was that Jasmine has decided, after only ten years of designing, to now focus on her other interests!! Booo to that! So I thought it was only right to pay homage to her… after all from now on her pieces will be collector items… so get buying I say!!!

Over the past 12 -18 months her designs have become increasingly popular in celebville, with Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Palthrow, Freda Pinto, Cristina Ricci and Rachel McAdams all spotted on the red carpet in her stunning creations. It’s virtually impossible to flick through Vogue, Instyle or Marie Claire without seeing some celeb dawned in Di Milo……

Daughter of Harrods owner, Mohamed Al – Fayed, Jasmine, at only 30, has proved herself as one of the most creative young designers out there. She launched her first knitwear capsule collection ‘Constellation’ in 2000 and her following collection ‘Fallen Angels’ in 2003 carried the ‘Jasmine Di Milo’ name for the first time.   ‘Di Milo’ was chosen as homage to the original female muse of beauty. As a fully fledged designer she made her catwalk debut in 2006. Her collections are sold in over 160 countries around the world, including Harrods in London (surprise surprise!), Printemps and Bon Marche in Paris, Maxfield in LA and in Clothes Peg boutique in Dublin.

Jasmine herself

I would describe her collection as feminine, edgy, sexy, intricate and basically just overall… stunning! Her amazing eye for intricate detail and her use of rich, incredible fabrics is her trademark – I’m talking full length gowns in a silk so rich you would feel like a princess and potentially then bankrupt if you do splurge!
Her current Spring Summer collection, ‘Say it with your mouth shut’, described in Vogue as having a ‘Spirited sophistication with a dark contemporary edge’ is simply incredible…Silk one button boyfriend blazers, in sheer grey, chilli red and black, embellished body con dresses, asymmetrical, cut out maxi’s, an amazing black full length jumpsuit with intertwined gold rope detail on the neckline.. Trust me it would make your heart beat faster… Check out http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/show.aspx/full-length-photos/id,8028 and you’ll see what I mean.

Her stuff is pretty hardcore designer prices, so I’m happy for now just lusting after it from a far, but girls gotta have goals! To keep an eye on her Spring Summer stuff and potentially catch a ‘bargain’ (I’m talking designer… ‘investment’ type bargain) visit her online store:
