I hate to admit it, and if I’m honest I am still in semi denial about the fact that summer is coming to an end but on the upside the dreaded sales are coming to an end (whoop) and Autumn Winter trends are taking over, with lots of new yummy trends to get my teeth into (extended whooooop) Every cloud has a silver lining eh!!! Working in a boutique, I’m like a kid in a candy store with new stock arriving every day!
Over the coming weeks I plan to do a focus on different key trends and micro trends that take my fancy, but after trawling through Harpers Bazzar, Vogue, Instyle, style.com, Image and our very own Stellar I thought I’d give you ‘What Will I Wear Today?’ readers a quick rundown of what we’ll be wearing over the coming months…. Sure, we’ve got to deal with long dark evenings, what seem like even darker mornings, cold and yucky rain and the dreaded umbrellas blowing inside out dilemma… but hey nothing a new a delicious new pair of booties won’t help us overcome…. ahhhh yes shoes the answer to all my woes..
Anywho folks here’s a quick trend overview. I’ve picked my favourite ten…
Delicate lace, sheer chiffon, uber feminine satin, frills, bows, floaty, billowing fabrics, baby pinks, pretty pastels, natural nudes…. all that’s missing is hundreds of daisies and big open meadows and we’ve got the intro to The Sound of Music or an ad for washing detergent….but no, what I am trying to create in your minds is the image of the ultra feminine romantic trend taking highstreet by storm. I’ve been sitting here trying to decipher what my thoughts are on animal print, more specifically leopard print, and how to wear it and more importantly… rock it ! But I gotta admit it’s a tricky one. Leopard print is BIG news (again!!) for Autumn Winter 2010, and wandering around Grafton street today, its pretty much everywhere already– Zara, River Island, Topshop, H&M and BT2. Cheryl Tweedy was even papped in an uber cute babydoll leopard dress recently, there’s the nod folks – its so in right now!!!! The thing with leopard print is that its omni present across almost every season, never really going out of fashion as such and having a ‘come back’ almost every other year… I picked up a pair of leopard print Steve Madden mega high heels a few seasons ago, and my love for them never falters… Read the rest of this entry »

P Diddy!!! How random – Who knew she actually had a fun side?!
You’ll probably have noticed through my recent blogs, there is more than just the one reference to Jasmine Di Milo. Di Milo is by and large one of my fav designers at the mo… mind you, I tend to be quite fickle and this can change…. but for right now, you could say I am just a tiny bit obsessed with her work – I am loving her Spring Summer 2010 collection. So you can imagine my incredible disappointment at the recent announcement that Jasmine’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection, oddly entitled ‘The Puzzle Factory’, will be her last… The official statement was that Jasmine has decided, after only ten years of designing, to now focus on her other interests!! Booo to that! So I thought it was only right to pay homage to her… after all from now on her pieces will be collector items… so get buying I say!!!
Let me get one thing straight before I start my little rant on maxi dresses – I am average ish height, about 5’8 or so – by no means a giant, but going by the length of maxi dresses on the high street I am!! The single most difficult thing to find (for me) was a floor sweeping maxi dress, what is particularly frustrating about this is, that in my mind, no maxi dress looks right if it’s any shorter than floor length, it should skim the ground, the shoes (wedges, gladiators, flip flops, cons whatever tickles your fancy) should not be visible or at the most a flash of an embellished sandal is acceptable! Time to pull up your socks ladies… the sock trend is set to stay with us throughout the season and is only to get bigger for Autumn/ Winter 2010… The high street is awash with ankle socks (super cool worn with heels and a floral inspired dress), knee highs, over the knees, and thigh highs – all of which are BIG news right now! Love ‘em or loath ‘em girlies, socks are one of the biggest accessories of 2010. Marni, Michael Kors and the uber fabu-licious Alexander Wang all said so… so there… that means it’s true!!
